Fakebook.

Yesterday, me and 1691 others took a day off from Facebook. The reason for us to not use Facebook yesterday is that we are against some of the standards Facebook have, that allowing for some people to harass and threat on this social network. Several people I know have been victims of these people, who create fake accounts on Facebook only to harass.

You see, everything with social media is not great. There are downsides. Social media facilitates communication and reach, but also open for harassment, bullying, threat, stolen identities (people create accounts and pretend to be you), spread of false information etc.

How can we prevent this? First, if someone send a friend request to you, take a look at his or her profile. Is it possible that the person is/has a fake profile? Facebook is a good tool to get a bigger network, but you don't want to be friend with someone who are there to harass and sabotage for others.
